ROMANI

The Romani people (also known as the Roma, or Gypsy people) are a group believed to have migrated originally from India to every corner of Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia. While the Romani have adopted certain dance characteristics from the regions in which they settled, there are aspects of Romani dance that are similar in every region; particularly, attitude, directness, powerful gestures and the karsilama rhythm.
