KARADENIZ (Black Sea - Northern Anatolia)
KARADENIZ dance from the Black Sea region depicts the life of the fishermen on the powerful Black Sea. Dynamic folk dances from the Black Sea coastline which is pinned against lush and rugged mountains, express the vigor and impatience of the people in the region. They are usually danced collectively with rapid and rhythmic movements. Harsh nature and unpredictable sea-life is also reflected in these dances. These are called HORON dances and are typically accompanied by the Davul (drum), Zurna (shrill pipe) and Kemence (lira).
