HALAY (Southeastern Anatolia

The word HALAY refers to getting together with people. The Halay dance and its variations are found in many different regions of Southeastern Anatolia. It is a rhythmic dance that illustrates the local agrarian life style. This particular dance, dramatizes a young man who is trying to create an opportunity to meet the girl of his dreams by concealing as a scarecrow in the field.
